It is colder in Tampa Florida than most of the USA?

Tampa is usually much warmer than other parts of the U.S. What you're experiencing is a temporary cold snap. It's 29 degrees F here in Chicago right now and we have about 8 inches of snow on the ground. Sometimes the south must experience what we always do here in the Midwest. Be thankful that you don't have the snow or you'd really be in trouble. Tampa has no snow plows (like Dallas which just had 12 inches of snow), so you're really very lucky.
