Is gay marriage a litmus test on wether society is crumbling?

Society functions well with proper marriage between a man, and a woman. Other marriages serve no purpose, such as marriage between a man/animal, man/robot, man/man etc... Should gay marriage be considered a line that should not be crossed, a line that leads to the break down of morals, and society?
